To some it was a major surprise when the headline “A&M Verses A&M – Florida Tromps Texas” was read. And to others it was no surprise at all. But one thing is for sure, Florida beat Texas. Sports are a great thing. And when our team plays we go crazy. This is what happened when Florida beat Texas. It was a great game and it got everyone’s emotions going crazy. And that is a good thing because that is what sports are supposed to do.Is this new to you? Catch up here Both teams put up a terrific fight but it was made very clear that Florida was the much better team. They played harder, faster, tougher, and all around better than Texas and their hard work definitely payed off. Texas was beat by a better team and this is just motivation for Texas to come back better next time. This is the beauty of college sports. Florida is proving itself to be not a good team but an extremely great team. Florida beat Texas and we hope that they will beat every other upcoming opponent that they face. Florida has more games ahead f them but they are proving themselves worthy of beating all of them.

Robert Champion, age 26, was the band member at Florida A&M University who died after a football game against Bethune-Cookman College in 2011. Aboard the band’s bus after the game, Champion began vomiting before becoming unresponsive. Medical attention was sought immediately, but Champion ultimately died of shock. Internal bleeding after a severe beating caused his shock; the beating came from his fellow band mates in a hazing.

In response to the unfortunate and untimely death of Champion, Florida Gov. Rick Scott has been placing pressure on FAMU President James Ammons to step down from his position. Ammons’ handling of the death of Champion was called into question considering the school’s long history of hazing practices in the Marching 100, which is what the band is called. Another band member came forward stating that she suffered a broken thigh bone earlier in the month as the result of a beating she endured as part of the band’s long history of hazing. Julian White, the FAMU band director, was suspended following the death of Champion.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott does not have the authority to fire Ammons; that job belongs to the FAMU board of trustees. As the investigation continues, Ammons’ position with FAMU will remain in jeopardy.

Now that authorities have finished their investigation into the November 2011 suspected hazing-related death of Robert Champion, a Florida A&M University band drum major, the wait continues on who will be charged.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement March 27 saying the investigation, which included interviewing more than 40 people and more than 1,000 hours of work, was finished. Prosecutors have received a copy of the investigation.

The Florida State Attorney’s Office has also received a copy of the completed investigation. However, no one is saying when a decision will be made on charging anyone.

Some band members said Champion, 26, died while participating in a hazing initiation ritual dubbed “Crossing Bus C” to join a band social group. According to reports, in the ritual pledges must run the length of the bus while senior members assault them.

Champion soon collapsed on the bus. The medical examiner’s office ruled Champion’s death a homicide. The medical examiner concluded the Florida A&M University student died an hour after the hazing incident in which he suffered multiple hits to the head.

Champion’s autopsy revealed extensive contusions to his back, shoulders, arms and chest. It also revealed crushing of the fatty tissue under the skin.

The name Chad received a boost in popularity in the wake of Florida’s 2008 presidential election controversy. After first hearing that democrat candidate, Al Gore, had won the sunshine state and later the republican candidate, George Bush, morning brought the news that a recount was necessary to determine a winner.
For the first time in recent history, the presumptive president was unknown. A Florida win was a necessity, but the recount was clouded by controversy. Punched card ballots, whose perforated squares failed completely to detach, forced the historic involvement of the Supreme Court.Get more information here. http://www.onlinecertificateprograms.org/blog/2012/9-shady-u-s-elections-you-probably-forgot-about/
In Florida counties using the punch card, the perforated section known as a chad became a matter of heated debate. Some chads remained attached to the ballet by one, two or three points, and some completely attached but dimpled. The provocative question was which if any of these votes counted.
For the first time in history, it was not only a matter of counting votes but also judging the intent of the voter. Adding to the confusion, the hand counting of votes changed the ballots themselves as chads came loose and sometimes dislodged. The term chad previously known by few became well known and temporarily became popular as a baby name.
