The Florida Store - Since its inception in 1898, Burdines has worked to define itself as the quintessential Florida department store – in part by offering tropical fashions that evoke the spirit of the Sunshine State. But next month, “The Florida Store” will cease to exist, when owner Federated Department Stores finally removes the Burdines label from its Florida storefronts. New Florida takes this opportunity to remember a Florida original.

Gators Galore - In 2004, Palm Beach County was overrun by alligators ... fiberglass alligators sporting funny hats and uncomfortable shoes. To learn more about this rather unconventional art-in-public-places program, New Florida met with West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel, who helped to support the program by creating her own flamboyant work of alligator art.
