Jews of Broward
County - Honoring the Annual Florida Jewish History Month
Today, Broward County boasts the largest Jewish population
in Florida. The community’s 260,000 members owe their
existence, in part, to the work of early Jewish settlers
who endured pioneer life and battled discrimination to lay
the foundation for an active, thriving community. New
Florida visits the "Jews of Broward County" exhibit at the Jewish
Museum of Florida and speaks with a few of Broward’s early Jewish
residents to hear their stories of life in the fledgling county.
Life Begins
at 85 - For the average high school student, graduation
marks the beginning of a lifelong journey, but for 90-year
old Uceba Babson, it marks the end of a lifelong dream. New
Florida meets this inspirational 90-year old, the
oldest Floridian to earn her GED in 2004.
Fireworks - Are
you bedazzled by the beauty and excitement of fireworks as
they reach for the night sky? Well, take a closer look from
a different vantage point – the point of departure. Equally
awesome are the skillful technicians who choreograph on cue
these bursts of fire that create such spectacular sparkle.
